What questions do you want the Democratic candidates to answer regarding abortion?

February 17, 2020 /0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

Recently, Herb Geraghty of Rehumanize International made the following point in a few brief tweets: At every debate/town hall event all of the Democrats should be asked: (1) Is there any point at which it should be illegal to abort a healthy pregnancy? & (2) How much money has Planned Parenthood had donated to you […]

We asked, you answered: What are the top facts you wish people understood about either foster care or adoption?

February 12, 2020 /0 Comments/in Adoption & Foster Care, Uncategorized, We Asked You Answered /by Monica Snyder

We asked our followers what they wish people understood about adoption and foster care and got some insightful answers: On differences between adoption and foster care: Honestly, just getting across the fact that they aren’t the same thing would be a step in the right direction. – Michael B. They aren’t the same thing and aren’t meant […]

How many Democrats are pro-life?

February 5, 2020 /0 Comments/in Pro-Life Demographics, Research /by Monica Snyder

Recently, Democrats for Life President Kristen Day questioned Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg about whether the Democratic Party welcomes pro-life Democrats. She said, in part, I am a proud pro-life Democrat. Do you want the support of pro-life Democratic voters? There are about 21 million of us. NARAL President Ilyse Hogue objected to that stat, pointing to […]

The Comfortable Pro-Choice People

January 31, 2020 /0 Comments/in Speeches, Discussions, Presentations, Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

Last year before the San Francisco Walk for Life, Monica (SPL co-leader) gave a brief speech about “comfortable” pro-choice people, essentially outlining the most ubiquitous myths that allow people to be comfortable with the pro-choice political position. [And she did this speech before pro-choice people started insisting embryos don’t have hearts.] You can watch the […]

Planned Parenthood wants you to get out and vote!

January 20, 2020 /0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

Planned Parenthood recently released this political ad: The bolded lines below are a transcription of the ad and the unbolded text are my first thoughts. Can I be blatantly honest? My life is at stake in this next election.  Yeah, lots of lives are at stake in that next election. Pro-lifers think about that a […]

Pro-choice articles euphemizing “heartbeat.”

June 7, 2019 /0 Comments/in Biology, Debunking /by Monica Snyder

Definitions of “heartbeat.” To my knowledge there’s no unifying authoritative definition of “heartbeat.” Embryology textbooks do use the term. For example: “Blood flow begins during the fourth week, and heartbeats can be visualized by Doppler ultrasonography.” – The Developing Human, Moore et al, 10th Edition (2013)  “The heartbeat is initiated around the twenty-first day, and […]

When we say “heartbeat” we don’t mean “fetal pole cardiac activity.” We mean “heartbeat.”

June 5, 2019 /0 Comments/in Biology, Debunking /by Monica Snyder

Recently a FB follower shared this post to our page: (Click to enlarge) The text reads, in part: This is what an embryo at 6 weeks looks like. There is no real heart beat because it’s heart isn’t nearly complete – they’re heart “vibrations” (vibrations are caused my cellular activity where the heart WILL be. […]

The people whose lives you suggest aren’t worth living? They can hear you.

May 24, 2019 /0 Comments/in Ableism, Adoption & Foster Care, They Can Hear You /by Monica Snyder

[The original FB post where we collected these answers can be found here. We’ve since created a FB album with more such perspectives here.] Recently, “The Good Place” star Jameela Jamil tweeted the following: Text reads: “I had an abortion when I was young, and it was the best decision I have ever made. Both for me, […]

We asked, you answered: why did you convert from being pro-choice to pro-life?

May 22, 2019 /0 Comments/in Dialogue strategy, Uncategorized, We Asked You Answered /by Monica Snyder

Original FB post here. At the time I started organizing these answers, there were about 200 comments. Many people became pro-life because of their own pregnancy experiences: Sasja: I was pro choice, and even against the gestation of embryos that showed signs of hereditary diseases or birth defects … And then I fell in love […]

The zygote is the beginning of the human life cycle: everyday examples.

May 15, 2019 /0 Comments/in Biology /by Monica Snyder

The human zygote is the first developmental stage in a human life cycle. A zygote is different in kind from sperm and unfertilized eggs, which are gametes, not organisms. The zygote is different from any random cell that has human DNA, such as your skin cells (also not organisms). The zygote is a separate and […]
