Our monthly donors have nearly doubled this year

SPL’s Monthly Donor program technically started in 2018, when a lone donor came to us and told us he loved our content so much he wanted to set up a recurring donation.
At that time we were still an all-volunteer organization: a work of heart pieced together with the spare energy and (diminishing) spare time of Kelsey, Terrisa, myself, and a few key others. We had no support raising experience and frankly hadn’t given it a lot of thought. This one visionary donor helped push us in a more organized direction.
From 2020 through 2023, we built out a monthly donor program comprised of 40 supporters contributing a total of $1,491 per month. This funding and increased stability were some of the factors in my decision to accept the position as SPL’s Executive Director (and first actual staff member).
And so I am incredibly impressed and grateful when I tell you that so far in 2024 alone, we’ve added another 34 monthly donors (an 85% increase!) for an additional $1,254 per month (an 84% increase!)
This is a resounding success, and I’m delighted. But do you know what else it means? It means if we can get just six more monthly donors I can say we doubled the entire program in 2024. Doesn’t that sound like such a lovely stat?
