SPL’s Storytelling Symposium

A Video Training Program for Effective Storytelling

Storytelling Symposium Overview

Your story is more powerful than any argument.

Stories shape how people understand abortion, often more than biological facts or philosophical premises. Because narratives frame the cultural conversation and move public opinion, our movement must master the art of the story. To move the needle, we have to be excellent communicators, using storytelling with clarity, purpose, and intention.

The Storytelling Symposium is a free, nine-module video training program designed to equip you for every stage of advocacy. We don’t just teach you how to talk; we teach you how to be heard. You’ll learn how to structure a story that stays with your audience, find your unique voice, and share your experiences in a way that feels natural and compelling.

Good storytelling is also a responsibility. This program covers the personal side of advocacy, including emotional readiness and setting healthy boundaries to protect your mental health and your relationships. You will learn how to navigate the media, influence policy at the statehouse, and even support fundraising efforts, all while keeping the focus where it belongs: on the mission.

Whether you are a first-time volunteer or a seasoned spokesperson, this work isn’t complete without your story. It’s time to speak with clarity, confidence, and purpose. Let’s get to work.
