Abortionist Gosnell arrested on post-natal murders
Kermit Gosnell, an abortionist doing business in Philadelphia, has been arrested on eight counts of murder. One of those counts is for Karna Mongar, a political refugee who escaped horrible conditions in Nepal only to be killed in a botched abortion in 2009, just five months after she arrived in the United States. The other seven counts are for babies who were allegedly killed after being born alive.
It’s great that these eight people have a shot at getting justice. It’s also completely arbitrary. Yes, we mourn these seven babies– but Gosnell has killed far, far more. Those other victims will never be legally recognized, because they happened to be on the other side of the birth canal when they were slaughtered. Likewise, the maternal death in this case is tragic, but not unique. Many abortionists have maternal mortalities under their belts; typically it results in no criminal charges, and they often get to keep their abortion practices, too!
Fortunately, Gosnell’s medical license has already been suspended for several months. A criminal conviction with prison time would ensure that his license is never reinstated. But there are no guarantees. With $240,000 in cash found at his residence, there’s no doubt that he’ll be able to afford a savvy lawyer. Stay tuned.
