Creating a more efficient pro-life movement

December 29, 2025/in Administrative, Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

Coalition building is a major part of our mission. Abortion activists benefit from the institutional support of the media, academia, and Hollywood, plus hundreds of millions in fundraising dollars. Pro-lifers can’t afford to be inefficient. Strong coalitions prevent redundant work and allow us to play on each other’s strengths.

At SPL we go out of our way to be both partner and connector. Your donations help us strengthen links across the whole movement. Here are a bunch of examples from 2025:

You funded digital impact.

Herb and I spoke on many podcasts and interviews, including with AAPLOG, Equal Rights Institute, Choose Life Coalition, and Heartbeat International.

We also invited pro-life activists to join us on SPL livestreams. I was especially moved by Leah Sargeant’s conversation with me discussing our experiences with miscarriage and gaps in medical care.

An SPL collaboration this year that meant a great deal to me is our proposed Fetal Remains Disposition and Patient Support Policy. We brought together attorneys, medical professionals, and loss parents to craft this free resource so hospitals can better support patients enduring miscarriage.

We were part of many other group projects: coalition letters, amicus briefs, guest essays, and more. Thank you for helping SPL do so many different things with so many different people.

You enabled on-the-ground work.

We also do, in fact, leave our offices and go out into the world. Your funding helps us travel so we can train pro-life advocacy organizations, student groups, and pregnancy resource centers.

Our trainings have gotten so popular we launched the full-day Bridges Intensive. Grounded in nonsectarian, nonpartisan principles, the Intensive helps PRC staff, non-traditional pro-lifers, campus activists, and anyone else who wants to have useful conversations with pro-choicers.

As we travel, we go out of our way to facilitate pro-life connection. We host local SPL Happy Hours.

We attend galas, marches, and networking events and meet as many activists and organizers as we can.

All the while we tell everyone about SPL and see where there’s room for crossover work.

You made behind-the-scenes progress possible.

Interestingly, a lot of our best coalition work happens quietly in the background. We have countless meetings among different groups exchanging info and trying to get everyone to work together.

Our biggest contribution has been to a little-discussed but influential coalition called The Pro-Life Vanguard (“Vanguard” for short). This project was founded in the summer of 2023 by 100 or so pro-life leaders who wanted to be better coordinated. That initial group elected me to serve on a 5-person executive committee, and has re-elected me to the same committee each year since.

I’m honored to be in this position, and I’ve put considerable hours and mental energy toward shaping Vanguard into a sustainable and smart collaboration. In particular:

  1. I helped craft Vanguard’s mission, including encouraging civil debate and fostering diversity.
  2. I’ve represented smaller, less-resourced pro-life organizations, ensuring we have paths to participate alongside legacy groups.
  3. I’ve moderated multiple respectful debates between members on topics that have historically divided the pro-life movement.

I don’t see how Vanguard could be achieving anything without Monica’s hard work on the executive committee. She’s not just my right hand, but my whole right arm.

Eric Scheidler, Executive Committee Chair

Keep investing in what’s working.

I’m able to do all this because your donations keep SPL moving forward. Your dollars drive our coalition-building work.

We have a $15,000 year-end matching grant to fill. You guys have already matched $7,825. Help us match the other $7,125.

Consider an extra gift to SPL or, if you were already planning on giving, a slightly larger gift.

Fund Collaborative Work

And whether you can give or not, another powerful way to advocate is to recommend us to your friends and family. Suggest SPL as a worthy nonprofit for their 2025 charitable giving.

Thank you for helping us create pro-life alliances.

If a traditional donation is not the right fit right now, we also accept support through Donor Advised Funds, stock donations, planned giving, and other methods. Learn more and find the strategy that works best for you.
