We Asked, You Answered: If you are part of the LGBTQ community, what’s it like to be pro-life in those spaces?

June 13, 2025/in Uncategorized, We Asked You Answered /by Virginia Pride

Secular Pro-Life has a focus on amplifying the voices of non-traditional pro-lifers. For the LGBTQ community, SPL offers a survey to gather their thoughts and experiences as a pro-lifer. We compiled answers for today’s question:

If you are part of the LGBTQ community, what’s it like to be pro-life in those spaces?

The answers shared many similarities dicussing the challenges but also hope involved with being LGTBQ and pro-life:

Evelyn B.: “…I get told I hate women, which is especially hurtful as someone who is attracted to women and loves them. If you disagree with their views, you’re labeled as a fascist, bigot pick-me misogynist.”

M.J.: “It’s not easy. In fact, I feel very isolated…”

Anonymous: “It is disheartening…How can we be feminist but literally rip out females from our wombs?”

Orlando G.: “…[M]ost LGBTQ people are pro-choice [and] seem to say that they are personally pro-life…We just need to get them to see that all life is dignified and worthy.”

Brie B.: “…LGBTQ+ people experience a lot of pressure to be pro-choice out of guilt by political association.”

Miles B.: “Funnily enough, the global queer community is not nearly as pro-abortion as in the west. My boyfriend, who is from Honduras, is pro-life and says that that is just commons sense where he’s from.”

Anonymous: “If I told people my true beliefs, I would be shunned and unfollowed.”

P.B.: “It can be tough…Queer people often feel a need to stand with Planned Parenthood, and by proxy, abortion.”

Elise Ketch: “I’m always worried about being ostracized or physically attacked. So typically I am not ‘out’ in queer spaces for safety.”
