I’ve talked a lot on this channel about how later abortions are not always for medical emergencies, and in fact there’s no data to show that they are even usually for medical emergencies. There is some data to suggest that they are usually not. You can go to this URL to check out some of that information.
Sometimes when I bring this up, I will have people tell me about how they work in a hospital where abortions are performed even later in pregnancy, and that in all of their experience, sometimes many years of experience, they have rarely or never seen a later abortion performed for anything other than a medical emergency.
I just wanted to say that I believe that, because non-medically necessary later abortions aren’t done in hospitals. They’re done in late-term abortion clinics, and the providers who work at these clinics have talked about this. They’ve talked about performing very late procedures, and they’ve talked about how they don’t always do it for medical emergencies.
I believe you that you don’t see elective later abortion happening in hospitals, but that doesn’t change the fact that elective later abortion does happen.
