Great news for Texas women

April 17, 2012/7 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Kelsey Hazzard

Despite the Obama administration’s pseudo-feminist decision to pull women’s healthcare funding from Texas, the state is not backing down.  It has found the funds to administer the Women’s Health Program (WHP) without federal dollars, thereby allowing WHP to prioritize legitimate clinics over those associated with abortion and continue providing care to low-income women.

In a recent interview, state Medicaid director Billy Milwee explained that the Planned Parenthood funding will cease on May 1st.  Only 3% of WHP-funded clinics are affected by the new rule.  A few women “may have to find a new provider,” he said. “We’ll help them do that. But, the services will continue.”  The budget for women’s health services has already been appropriated, so disruptions should be minimal.

This is a great example of pro-life, pro-woman legislation.  Supporting women’s health should not come at the expense of funding prenatal homicide.  Less than two fifths of American women believe that abortion is morally acceptable.  Pro-life women are sick and tired of the abortion lobby co-opting our health for their anti-right-to-life message.

Moral of the story: Don’t mess with Texas!

We need to defeat 0BAMA. HE RAISED YOUR TAXES! Socialized medicine, you can't raise taxes in a recession. The link between access to contraception and abortion. Sexual education encourages immoral behavior. Tax cuts spur investment. The occupy movement has no stated goals or objectives. The gun is good, the penis is evil. My abortion was justified because if I didn't get it my children might not have had a mother. The catholic church is not anti-contraception, they support the rhythm method. Obama is an Anti-war government ni– blah. The "war on women" is a democrat msm lamestream media hoax/narrative. both sides are bad so VOTE REPUBLICAN. The state of texas is helping women see?

The statistic about what women consider "morally acceptable" is a nonsequitir unless you believe in legislating morality, which is a slippery slope. Instead, the statistic about how many women think abortion should be illegal or legal belongs there. But it's not quite as dramatic.

      In your opinion.

This article is about separating abortion from women's health care, and a statistic about how women view the morality of abortion is very apropos. Some people lump the two together, as if abortion is a necessary and integral part of women's healthcare. Showing that a majority of women are morally opposed to this follows just fine.

Of course it's my opinion. It's my comment. What a silly thing to say. Nonetheless I stand by it and disagree with your POV on the statistic used.

Abortion is NOT a "medical procedure" and is not "health care" I'm so tired of hearing people call it these things. Just because something involves blood and knives does not make it a medical procedure.

My last "procedure" that involved blood and knives was my dinner.

Hear hear, anon. To hear them talk the only 'healthcare' women need involves our girly bits and abortions, as if pregnancy was the number one killer of women. It's not even on the list.
