Dismantling the argument that pro-life laws invite forced abortions

October 7, 2014 /500 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Kelsey Hazzard

Protestor’s sign reads “Choice is the American Way” Raise your hand if you’ve heard this argument in favor of Roe v. Wade: If a government can force women to gestate, it can also force them to abort. There’s some pathos here. It’s a nice, balanced sentence that sounds good to the ear. But strip the pathos […]

October 3, 2014 /0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Kelsey Hazzard

Did you miss us the last time we were in NYC? Have no fear. We’re coming back in just two weeks! This time our host is Fordham University Respect for Life. Secular Pro-Life president Kelsey Hazzard will present at Fordham on Saturday, October 18 at 6:00 p.m. The students are still working on reserving a […]

Take the quiz: where do you stand on abortion?

September 30, 2014 /53 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Kelsey Hazzard

This quiz isn’t designed to convince anyone to become pro-life. It’s just designed to show what you currently are: strongly pro-life, lean pro-life, lean pro-choice, or strongly pro-choice. You might be surprised! We’ve made it as neutral as possible, so please feel free to share with your friends. More information about public opinion polling can […]

The feminist movement cannot afford to ignore pro-life concerns

September 29, 2014 /500 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Kelsey Hazzard

Emma Watson at the United Nations, via CBS News [Today’s guest post by Victoria Godwin is part of our paid blogging program.] Emma Watson. Who doesn’t love her? Emma Watson seems to be strong lady who has carried herself with poise and grace even whilst being in the spotlight. I love her acting, applaud her […]

The calm before the storm

September 24, 2014 /193 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Kelsey Hazzard

Four months from now—in late January—I know exactly where I’ll be. Via Wikimedia Commons, actually. I don’t know who took this photo. Like I said: people notice! I’ll be on a plane to Washington, D.C. to carry the bright blue, massive, you-can’t-miss-it banner in the March for Life. Then I’ll be at the Students for Life […]

Fun with Demographic Data

September 23, 2014 /2 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Kelsey Hazzard

[EDIT: A prior version of this article stated abortion rates “per 100,000 women of reproductive age.” The Guttmacher Institute actually uses a rate per 1,000 women. We regret the error. Unfortunately, it’s too late to change the graphic.] Last week, Hemant Mehta (the Friendly Atheist) spotlighted an interactive map from the American Values Atlas, which […]

New Englanders: join us tomorrow at Yale University

September 19, 2014 /1 Comment/in Uncategorized /by Kelsey Hazzard

Last year, we attended the first annual Vita et Veritas conference at Yale University (photo above), bringing together pro-life leaders throughout New England. It was a great success, so here we go again! SPL president Kelsey Hazzard will once again be part of an interfaith panel (last year’s included a Christian, a Muslim, and a […]

SPL on the Atheist Analysis podcast

September 16, 2014 /38 Comments/in Religion, Speeches, Discussions, Presentations /by Kelsey Hazzard

On Sunday night, SPL appeared on Atheist Analysis for what was intended to be a one-hour podcast. It wound up being closer to two hours. Nobody had any sudden pro-choice to pro-life conversions (or vice versa), but it was a great discussion and we found a lot of common ground. Watch/listen below, and let us […]

VIDEO: Monday’s presentation at College of Wooster

September 12, 2014 /74 Comments/in Speeches, Discussions, Presentations, Uncategorized /by Kelsey Hazzard

I had a great time at College of Wooster. It’s a very, very small school, so I wasn’t expecting a University of Georgia-sized crowd (which is good, because I didn’t get one). But what the audience lacked in quantity, they more than made up for in quality. It was a mixed group—pro-life and not, secular […]
