The Abortion Religion Strikes Again

June 3, 2015 /0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Kelsey Hazzard

Via LifeNews comes the disturbing headline Methodist Pastor Justifies Abortion by Saying Unborn Babies Have Original Sin. According to Pastor John Swomley: The first claim is that society should protect innocent human life that is unable to protect itself. The term “innocent,” originally used by various popes, refers to fetal life which has committed no […]

The Second Circuit Has a Low Opinion of Pro-Choice New Yorkers

June 2, 2015 /0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Kelsey Hazzard

Last week, a federal appellate court ruled that New York could ban Choose Life license plates because they are “patently offensive”—a legal term usually reserved for hard-core pornography. The ruling was met with instant derision from grassroots pro-lifers and legal scholars alike. At the time, SPL simply condemned the decision with a tweet, which was […]

New campaign educates public on abortion-premature birth link

June 1, 2015 /0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Kelsey Hazzard

We are incredibly pleased to announce our newest project, Prevent Preterm!  Over 100 peer-reviewed studies have found that abortion is a risk factor for premature birth in subsequent pregnancies. But that research has largely been drowned out in the highly contentious public debate about abortion.  It’s time to change that. Prevent Preterm educates the public […]

If you follow Secular Pro-Life on facebook (and if you don’t, why don’t you?), you may have seen this earlier in the week: June 1 is Monday, and we’re so excited for this incredible project to finally be revealed! Until then, here are a few hints we can share: 1) Many women who have abortions […]

Increased legal recognition for stillborn babies in Western Australia

May 26, 2015 /0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Kelsey Hazzard

A 7-week-old baby shows off fingers which are beginning to separate and will be fully distinct by week 8. Photo via the Endowment for Human Development. Malessa B., an Australian supporter of Secular Pro-Life, recently sent us an article from Perth Now about a family’s successful campaign to obtain legal recognition for second-trimester stillborn babies: […]

Video: SPL presentation to Texas Right to Life college seminar

May 22, 2015 /0 Comments/in Speeches, Discussions, Presentations, Uncategorized /by Kelsey Hazzard

On Wednesday night, for the first time, I gave a Secular Pro-Life presentation via Skype. The audience was a great group of pro-life college leaders from Texas. We had a few technical difficulties, but overall, not bad! If you’re interested in a Secular Pro-Life speaker, email info@secularprolife.org.

Movie Review: Where Hope Grows

May 19, 2015 /0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Kelsey Hazzard

Before going to see Where Hope Grows, I knew only two things about it: One of the main characters has Down Syndrome and is played by an actor with Down Syndrome, David DeSanctis. DeSanctis promoted the film at January’s Students for Life of America conference. I didn’t get to hear him, though, because I was […]

High School Students Win Legal Battle to Establish Pro-Life Clubs

May 18, 2015 /0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Kelsey Hazzard

Photo of Brigid via SFLA We’ve written previously about Brigid and Katie, students at two high schools in Fargo, ND. Each wanted to start a pro-life student organization. Each faced opposition from school officials who claimed that pro-life clubs would be too controversial—a blatantly unconstitutional justification, and one which had not been used to refuse […]

20 Weeks in 20 Headlines

May 15, 2015 /0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Kelsey Hazzard

Graphic via Louisiana Right to Life Federation On Wednesday, the House of Representatives passed the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which limits abortions after 20 weeks (five months) to cases of rape or to save the life of the mother. Here’s how the media reacted, in rough order from most pro-life to least. LifeNews: House […]

Vote expected TODAY on national legislation to protect late-term babies

May 13, 2015 /0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Kelsey Hazzard

The Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act has been enacted by many states. It prohibits abortions after 20 weeks (five months), with varying exceptions. Pro-life leaders selected the 20 weeks as the cutoff for several reasons: 1) After 20 weeks, the risks of abortion to the mother increase significantly. 2) After 20 weeks, emerging science […]
