Senate Confirms Jackson to the Supreme Court
Yesterday, the Senate confirmed Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court of the United States. She will assume the title of Justice at the end of the current term (late summer), when she will replace Justice Breyer.
Pro-life organizations universally condemned Judge Jackson’s nomination to the Supreme Court. They highlighted her disturbing record on partial-birth abortion and censorship of pro-life viewpoints. Two Senators who have at times expressed support for the lives of unborn children — Joe Manchin (D-WV), Mitt Romney (R-UT) — nevertheless voted to confirm Jackson. So did pro-abortion Republicans Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Susan Collins of Maine, and the entire Democratic Senate majority. The final vote was 53-47.
We have lost this battle, but let’s not waste too much time feeling disappointed. The real Supreme Court action will come in just a few short months, when the Dobbs decision comes down.
