Remains of 115 Abortion Victims Recovered One Year Ago
It’s hard to believe that a year has already gone by. This week marks the first anniversary of the day that Terrisa Bukovinac (who is an atheist and Secular Pro-Life board member) and Lauren Handy recovered the bodies of 115 babies killed by D.C. abortionist Cesare Santangelo. Most of those babies received a prompt burial. However, five of them were older and bore injuries which suggested violations of the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act or the Born Alive Infant Protection Act. Handy and Bukovinac attempted to arrange autopsies for those five children, sparking the #JusticeForTheFive movement.
Looking at those tiny broken bodies would fill any sane person with rage. Even more infuriating, mainstream media outlets mostly ignored the story or else used an “anti-choice weirdos keep fetuses in their apartment” narrative frame. A year later, Washington, D.C. authorities still refuse to autopsy the five or give them a proper burial.
Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising (PAAU) has organized a week of action to remember the victims and demand justice. If you are in the D.C. area, we encourage you to participate. View the schedule below and register here.
