Recap: SPL is helping build up the next generation of alt pro-life leaders
Hi All –
I recently had the opportunity to serve as a mentor for the Rehumanize Fellowship, a program that brought together pro-life college students from across the country who want to make a meaningful difference in the world.
As part of the fellowship, the students got to participate in our acclaimed Building Bridges curriculum.
At Secular Pro-Life, we know that persuasion is about more than memorizing facts or winning arguments. That’s why our course teaches both the most effective arguments against abortion and, just as importantly, the interpersonal skills needed to change minds.
Our involvement in the fellowship didn’t end when the presentations were over. As a mentor, I was paired with one of the fellows, a student who will be returning to her campus this fall to develop a pro-life project of her own. Over the next year, I’ll be working with her as she refines her ideas, overcomes challenges, and turns her vision into something that will influence her campus and beyond.
I believe that this kind of long-term investment is necessary to achieve cultural change. Our work isn’t just about reaching pro-choice people ourselves — it’s about equipping others so they can become effective advocates in their own communities.
The fellows will now go back to their campuses and into their future careers, carrying these skills with them. By training these students, Secular Pro-Life is helping shape a new generation of leaders to know how to engage difficult conversations with conviction and compassion.
Our team may be small, but our impact reaches far beyond the presentations we give or the articles we write. Every person we train becomes someone who can go on to influence countless others.
