For your consideration: “Couple sues fertility clinic saying they had to abort a stranger’s baby.”
This couple in Massachusetts had tried IVF unsuccessfully a couple of times before she got pregnant with a baby girl. Months into the pregnancy, they did some genetic testing which revealed that the girl was healthy but not related to the parents. The fertility clinic claimed that there was no issue, but the couple began to suspect that the clinic had mistakenly implanted a stranger’s embryo into the woman.
In Massachusetts, abortion is legal for any reason up to 24 weeks of pregnancy. The couple said that they were afraid that if they birthed the baby girl, they would have a lengthy custody battle, so they chose to terminate just before the legal limit instead, at about six months.
This is another example of how later abortion is not always for medical emergencies. You can see similar examples and other related evidence and research here.
