Virginia needs us this week
As you probably know, the state of Virginia is facing a radical, pro-abortion constitutional amendment. If it passes, it will expand abortion access, including later abortions, and lock those policies into place in the state for years.
For the past several months, Secular Pro-Life has been on the ground working working to mobilize pro-lifers, train them how to reach their fellow Virginians, and build the coalition it will take to stop this amendment.
This week, we’re stepping up those activities and helping to show the diversity of the coalition working to stop this amendment by participating in events surrounding the Virginia March for Life. Our dual focus is representation and education. We need our people visibly showing up to broaden what the movement looks like, and we need to equip everyone to have the conversations that will actually change minds.
If you can make it, we’re hosting several opportunities to connect, learn, and take action. All events are free and open to the public.
Tuesday, April 21 7 PM
Pre-March Conversation Training
Location TBA, Chesterfield VA
Join us and our friends at Virginia for Preborn Justice for a workshop that will help you understand the implications of the proposed amendment and how to communicate effectively about it. RSPV here.

Alt Pro-Lifers Meetup
The Fountain at 900 Bank St, Richmond VA
Gather with Secular Pro-Life and other like-minded advocates who don’t always fit the typical mold of the movement. Connect and get ready to march together! All are welcome.
Wednesday, April 22 11 AM
Virginia March for Life
101 N 9th St, Richmond, VA
March with us as we make our voices heard to represent a broader pro-life movement, build relationships with advocates across Virginia, and engage with national leaders supporting efforts to stop this amendment.
Wednesday, April 22 3 PM
Virginia Beyond Abortion Panel and Teach-Ins
8659 Staples Mill Rd, Henrico, VA
Join us for an afternoon of education and practical training designed to help you take action in your community between now and the election this fall. Speakers include:
- Herb Geraghty – Secular Pro-Life (me!)
- Jonathan Lucci – Democrats for Life
- Daniela Simmons – Her PLAN
- Dennis Petrocelli MD – Pro-Life Psychiatrist
After the panel there will be optional teach-ins to learn more about pro-life mutual aid opportunities, sidewalk counseling, campus outreach engagement, building bridges in pro-choice spaces, and political engagement at the community level. I’ll be leading the building bridges session!
You’ll leave with concrete next steps and connections to others doing this work across Virginia. This event is hosted by Virginia for Preborn Justice in partnership with Secular Pro Life, Virginia Medical Freedom Alliance, and Democrats for Life of America. RSVP here.

I’ll be heading to Virginia straight from here in Pittsburgh and then back home to Philadelphia (Pittsburgh Pro-Life March recap coming soon btw 🙂). To keep costs down on this trip, I’ve been relying on host homes and carpooling with fellow activists. Even so, with rising gas prices, making it to these events can strain our already tight budget.
I’m estimating that it will take about $260 to fund the travel and supplies I’ll need to make an impact in VA this week. If you want to help make this work possible, please make a donation to Secular Pro-Life’s travel fund today.
Whatever you can chip in, whether it is $20 or $200, every dollar helps make this trip – and our work – possible.
As always, if you want to join our core team of supporters to help us make an impact year round, please consider becoming a monthly donor.
