Recap: Save the Storks Flyway Conference

November 19, 2025/in Speeches, Discussions, Presentations, Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

Hi all –

Just reporting back to you about the Flyway Conference. Save the Storks had invited me to train an exclusive group of Pregnancy Resource Center (PRC) Executive Directors. I led back-to-back sessions based on our Building Bridges program, which is all about effective communication with people different from ourselves.

My first Bridges session covered how to connect with abortion-vulnerable women. Non-religious women are disproportionately likely to seek abortion, and we want PRC leaders equipped to meet the need. As an atheist-led organization, SPL offers unique insight.

My second Bridges session was about productive dialogue with moderate pro-choicers. PRCs in strongly pro-choice states especially need the skills to engage their communities, legislators, and even potential donors. SPL provides training in sustaining cross-ideological relationships.

Every single time we’ve presented all or even part of Building Bridges, we’ve gotten incredibly enthusiastic responses. There are so many pro-lifers out there eager to broaden our movement and communicate as effectively as possible. You guys are so encouraging!

Here are a few of my favorite comments from our Flyway conference feedback. Notice any themes?

It’s very good to challenge what we think, it makes us review our point of view.

Fact based, data documented. I enjoyed the humor, and love to be challenged to think differently.

Best accessible language ever. Engaging, funny, I loved how relational everything was and how things stayed fear-free, positive, and respectful. That’s hard to do.

I loved that Monica challenged our thinking and encouraged us to be prepared to encounter and embrace opinions and beliefs different from ours.

It was all great! Thanks for challenging us.

Meanwhile, SPL’s Chief Communications Officer, Herb Geraghty, as well as two of our best volunteers (Jen and Kristen), joined me for the full day. We tabled from morning to evening and had great conversations with PRC leaders who are eager to do their jobs as well as possible.

Big thanks to our volunteers for helping with tabling, photography, and odds and ends. Volunteers are the heart of SPL!

A special thanks to those of you who have donated to our travel expenses. Your contributions help us get this extremely practical and engaging training to the people most ready to put it to use.

It’s crucial that we demonstrate that anyone can–and everyone should–oppose abortion. Thanks to you, we are working to change minds, transform our culture, and protect our prenatal children. Every donation supports our ability to provide nonsectarian, nonpartisan arguments against abortion. Read more details here. Please donate today.
