Secular Pro-Life Founder to Speak at Rehumanize Conference
Our friends at Rehumanize International organize consistently amazing conferences. Rehumanize is a Consistent Life Ethic (CLE) group, which means their work encompasses a wide range of social ills. That includes abortion, along with threats to older humans like the death penalty and sex trafficking. Their conferences present a wonderful opportunity for activists in different spheres to come together and learn from one another. Secular Pro-Life has proudly sponsored every conference since its inception.
The 2025 conference will take place in Arlington, VA (near Washington, D.C.) from Friday, October 31 to Sunday, November 2. It will be a hybrid setup, so virtual attendance remains an option for those who can’t make it to our nation’s capitol. And since the conference coincides with Halloween this year, there’s a fantastic theme: Natural Death to All Humans.

The conference schedule has dropped, and we’re excited to announce that SPL founder and board president Kelsey Hazzard will be on a Saturday afternoon panel with Shawn Zierke to discuss pro-life legal strategies:
Build Your Shield, Join the Fight: Legal Defensibility for Pro-Life Orgs + Amicus Advocacy 101
Pro-life organizations face coordinated legal and PR attacks — from “deceptive practices” claims to confidentiality and employment challenges. In Part 1, Shawn shows how to build a defense architecture: the right accreditation/certifications (or recognized governance frameworks), payer or donor-integrity proof points, disciplined privacy/comms, and lawful Title VII protections for faith-based missions. In Part 2, we apply the blueprint to real-world cases and spell out exactly what to publish, what to document, and how to prebunk common attacks. Kelsey then demystifies amicus briefs: when they matter, how to join, what strong “interest” statements include, timelines, costs, and Supreme Court-specific quirks. You’ll leave with an expanded vocabulary, a clear checklist, and a practical on-ramp to joining or coordinating an amicus coalition.
Other sessions of likely interest to secular pro-lifers include:
- Effective Persuasion Tactics
- Addressing Racism in the Pro-Life Movement
- Grassroots Organizing for Life
- The Create | Encounter release party celebrating art for human rights (Kelsey will display her piece “The Gamble,” which won second prize in the 2D visual arts category)
Tickets are available now. Can’t wait to see you there!
