Pregnancy Resource Centers Expand in Response to Dobbs
A nationwide survey of 2,750 pro-life pregnancy resource centers (PRCs) found that their services reached an all-time high in 2022, the first full calendar year after Dobbs v. Jackson allowed states to protect the right to life before birth.
PRCs provide free social and medical services to pregnant mothers and their families. Services vary by location but typically include pregnancy testing, maternity and infant supplies, ultrasounds, STD testing and treatment, parenting classes, and housing assistance. PRCs reject abortion, treating the mother and the baby as equal patients. However, many offer post-abortion grief counseling.
The survey, produced by the Charlotte Lozier Institute in collaboration with various PRCs, found that 974,965 people received PRC services in 2022. This represents significant growth since prior versions of the survey in 2009, 2011, 2018, and 2020.
Some of those people just needed a “peace of mind” pregnancy test and turned out not to be pregnant after all. But over 500,000 received free ultrasounds, and over 400,000 attended parenting education programs. PRCs distributed diapers, wipes, strollers, clothing, formula, car seats, and cribs collectively worth over $78 million! These achievements came despite tremendous pressure from pro-abortion politicians and terrorists.
Dobbs has saved the lives of approximately 32,000 babies so far. PRCs are meeting a crucial need and disproving the lie that pro-lifers don’t care. They deserve our full support!
