Stay Safe Out There
The abortion lobby is losing its decades-long grip on public policy. The end of Roe is on the horizon. In response, some disappointed extremists are committing violence against born humans.
An armed abortion supporter was recently arrested near Justice Kavanaugh’s home. He confessed to an assassination plot motivated by opposition to Dobbs. He may have been a lone wolf; Jane’s Revenge certainly is not. The group has firebombed and vandalized multiple pro-life sites, mostly pregnancy resource centers. So far Jane’s Revenge has only targeted unoccupied buildings with no casualties, but that is not a commitment. They claim that their attacks to date are a “warning” and that “the minimum military requirement for a political struggle” will ensue if pro-life advocates do not meet their demands by today.
Separately, Jane’s Revenge has declared a “Night of Rage” at 8:00 p.m. on the day Dobbs is announced, calling upon abortion advocates to “do what you can to make your anger known.” This echoes the “Summer of Rage” message coming from the ostensibly more mainstream Women’s March.
Students for Life of America is organizing a “Summer of Service” to support abortion-vulnerable communities. Created Equal is doing a “Summer of Justice.” And countless pro-life individuals are stepping up to support the lives of unborn babies. These are valuable responses.
This is also a great time to revisit some safety tips we’ve posted over the years:
- Be armed… with a video camera. People tend to be better behaved when they’re being recorded. And if not, then at least you have evidence. Ideally, use live stream so that no one can credibly accuse you of “deceptively editing” the footage.
- Don’t escalate. If an abortion supporter gets in your face, the best response is usually silence. You don’t have to be a Christian to turn the other cheek. Remember the schoolyard rule: adult bystanders notice the second kid to throw a punch, not the bully who threw the first punch.
- In the worst case scenario, know who to call. Call 911 if necessary. Your second call should be to a lawyer, even if you know that you did nothing wrong. You can reach Life Legal Defense Foundation at 707-224-6675.
- Shield the families and elderly people in the group. If you are a healthy young person with no dependents, you may need to physically put yourself on the front line for the protection of others. Visualize in advance what you will do in that situation.
Violence is at the heart of the pro-choice movement. After all, if it’s acceptable to dismember a baby who gets in the way of a woman’s goals… and they believe that you are also in the way of women’s goals… those dots aren’t hard to connect.
But do not be discouraged. We are on the side of service, justice, life, and love. Thousands of people will live who otherwise would have been killed. Rage can’t hold a candle to that.
