Maternal mortality rates in pro-life vs pro-choice states

April 28, 2025 in Legislation, laws, & court cases, Research, Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

On average, maternal mortality rates (MMRs) are higher in states with abortion restrictions than states without them. This has been true since before Dobbs overturned Roe v. Wade, and remains true today. Controlling the variables Abortion proponents will point to this correlation and then suggest or outright claim this shows that abortion restrictions are dangerous […]

Tips on emotional regulation during in-person abortion discussions

April 18, 2025 in Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

[This article is a transcript of “Emotional Regulation” courtesy of volunteer Ben Tomlin. If you’re interested in volunteering to transcribe more of our content, please complete our volunteer survey.] (Video also available on Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram.) Recently had one of Secular Pro-Life’s long-time supporters reach out to me to ask how I deal with emotional regulation when discussing […]

Recap: Connecticut speaking trip

April 14, 2025 in Administrative, Speeches, Discussions, Presentations, SPL Emails, Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

Last week I gave three different presentations in the span of about 48 hours in Connecticut: This is the first time I’ve presented on college campuses since I got protested at University of Portland, and I wondered if we’d see a repeat. The University of Connecticut did ask the pro-life club to have mental health […]

April 8, 2025 /0 Comments/in Biology, Later Abortion, Legislation, laws, & court cases, Research /by Monica Snyder

Today at Yale University, SPL Executive Director Monica Snyder is giving her presentation “Deconstructing Three Pro-Choice Myths.” Below are all the sources she used for today’s version of the presentation. This is one of several presentations SPL offers, which you can review here. (You can watch a former version of the Myths presentation here; the […]

Georgia woman initially charged with two felonies for fetus in dumpster

April 7, 2025 in Legislation, laws, & court cases, Miscarriage & Pregnancy Loss, Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

Update: Since we created the video and transcript below, Tift County District Attorney Patrick Warren has doppped charges against Chandler-Scott, stating “Prosecution is not legally sustainable and not in the interest of justice.” The DA’s office had advised law enforcement to wait until full medical findings were complete before moving forward. It’s unclear why law […]

Will you be in Connecticut next week?

March 31, 2025 in Administrative, Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

Hi All – I’m going on a brief, packed speaking trip in Connecticut next week. If you’re around you should come see me. I’ll be giving the following presentations: All of my presentations are thorough and engaging. The Turnaway and Myths presentations are fairly academic, including lists of citations and some deep-dive analyses. The Bridges presentation is more real-world application. All […]

Lawsuit filed against Illinois later abortion provider

March 26, 2025 in Later Abortion, Legislation, laws, & court cases, Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

Please note the video and transcript include graphic descriptions of violence. (Video also available on Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram.) Unbelievable story out of Illinois from last week: “Champaign abortion doctor left fetus parts in woman’s body, lawsuit alleges.” A woman from Indiana traveled to Illinois in spring of 2023. She was about 22-weeks pregnant, and […]

“Did I make the right decision?”

March 19, 2025 in Uncategorized, Your Stories /by Monica Snyder

Note: Any time I talk about women suffering after abortion, people assume I’m arguing that their suffering is a reason to outlaw abortion. In fact this isn’t my point. I do think we should outlaw elective abortion–because it kills human beings. But even if we lived in a world where outlawing abortion was impossible, I […]

“TikTok docs” don’t know what they’re talking about

March 17, 2025 in Later Abortion, Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

If you think the following explanations and responses are important, consider supporting our work. One of the most effective ways to do so is to become a monthly donor (check the box for “show my support by making this a monthly donation”). TikTok docs don’t always know what they’re talking about. Note when I say “TikTok doc” […]

Recap: SPL’s 2025 Trivia Night

March 14, 2025 in Administrative, Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

On March 7, we hosted Secular Pro-Life’s 3rd annual trivia night outside St. Louis, Missouri. It was fantastic. SPL’s primary mission is to advance secular arguments against abortion. But our mission includes two additional parts: make space for non-traditional (especially non-religious) pro-life people, and build interfaith coalitions (people of any faith or no faith) to […]
