Article laments baby boy born because of Dobbs

June 9, 2023 in They Can Hear You, Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

On May 22, 2023, In These Times published “What It’s Like to Have an Abortion Denied by Dobbs,” which profiles Lationna and her newborn son, Kinglsey. I came across the article because of this tweet: The tweet already had a whole lot of quote tweets, many of them saying terrible things about Lationna herself, what […]

Meet Becca, Our Volunteer Coordinator

May 31, 2023 in Administrative, Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

Secular Pro-Life exists because of volunteers. In 2009, SPL began as a work of heart for our founder (Kelsey), myself, and a select few others. Today our organization benefits from the knowledge, time, and talents of dozens of volunteers, which is why, despite our shoestring budget, our content is viewed over a million times per […]

“After Tiller” features a non-medical 25 week abortion

May 12, 2023 in Later Abortion, Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

The documentary “After Tiller” features interviews of only doctors willing to provide third trimester abortions following the assassination of Dr. George Tiller (who had also provided third trimester abortions). The film features multiple pregnancies involving fetal anomalies, but it also presents abortions of healthy fetuses for other reasons. For example, about an hour and five […]

Don’t tell people they can’t be pro-life.

May 10, 2023 in Pro-Life Demographics, Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

This post is primarily for conservative Christian pro-lifers. I consider myself fairly conservative, but SPL’s Board President is a moderate and our Board Vice President is a liberal. We get along great. And we try to run Secular Pro-Life in a very nonpartisan way. We do that because we want people to understand that anyone […]

Confronting counter protesters at the March on the Arch (St. Louis, MO)

May 5, 2023 in Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

My 8-year-old daughter, Clara, has been asking me to take her to a pro-life “protest,” and the St. Louis-based event in beautiful spring weather was a great opportunity.  We joined several hundred pro-life marchers for what began as a very peaceful trek on a gorgeous day. I showed Clara how to keep an eye out […]

5 reasons later abortion is worth talking about

April 28, 2023 in Later Abortion, Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

At Secular Pro-Life, we discuss later abortion frequently. Sometimes pro-choice people ask why we focus so much on later abortion when we oppose all abortion; if we think it’s wrong to kill embryos or fetuses at any stage, why the emphasis on later stages? Well, for several reasons. Here is a list. 1. There are […]

Controversy around Abortion Pill Reversal: a quick overview

April 21, 2023 in Abortion pills, Biology, Research, Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

[Post-publication update, 4/23/23 – (1) I clarified the results of the 2018 Delgado study. Previously I had stated the study found up to 68% success rate for APR. The average rate was 48%, with different methods of progesterone administration having different success rates up to 68%. (2) I added a note about method limitations in […]

Pro-choice women who have miscarried are outraged by The Guardian

April 12, 2023 in Biology, Miscarriage & Pregnancy Loss, Uncategorized /by Monica Snyder

In the Guardian’s notorious article “What a pregnancy actually looks like before 10 weeks – in pictures,” Senior Staff writer Poppy Noor implied that images of decidua and pulverized embryos after an abortion (and, for some reason, after being rinsed of all blood) were what a “pregnancy” looks like before 10 weeks. She further suggested […]
