An Introduction to SPL’s Speakers
Did you know that Secular Pro-Life has speakers available for conferences as well as campus, church, and community events?
SPL’s speakers offer flexible presentations adaptable to various audiences and contexts. They can address secular arguments against abortion, pro-life inclusivity, and dialogue across divides. Additionally, each speaker specializes in certain themes — see details below.

Michelle Buenrostro is an atheist, molecular biology student, and mother. She is fluent in both English and Spanish. She has been volunteering with Secular Pro-Life since 2018 and came on staff in 2024. Formerly pro-choice, Michelle has been pro-life since she became pregnant in high school and others pressured her to abort. She refused, but the experience moved her from seeing abortion as a necessary option to a violation shaped by social expectations. Michelle is especially passionate about supporting women facing unplanned pregnancies, and she’s interested in how public policy affects vulnerable populations. Her background equips her to speak clearly and compassionately on abortion-related issues, especially where they intersect with race, class, and culture. She brings warmth, insight, and a grounded perspective to her communication.
Herb Geraghty is an atheist pro-life activist and educator. As a non-traditional pro-lifer, Herb is particularly skilled at both bringing pro-choice people to the pro-life position and mobilizing pro-lifers to take action to defend the unborn. Herb has several prepared keynotes available, but also thrives in live debates, panels, and extended Q&A sessions with tough questions and direct challenges. Herb brings a unique combination of strategic insight and personal conviction to every speaking engagement. Herb is perhaps best known for being convicted under the FACE Act in 2023 following a non-violent direct action at a late-term abortion facility in Washington, D.C. After serving a year and a half in federal prison, Herb received a pardon from President Trump. Herb is available to speak powerfully about those experiences, as well as the broader implications of the FACE Act for peaceful pro-life advocacy in the United States.

Monica Snyder is an atheist with a bachelor’s degree in chemical biology from UC Berkeley and a master’s degree in forensic science from UC Davis. She takes a particular interest in research related to the abortion debate and enjoys breaking down data to make sense of complex issues. Monica has also lived much of her adult life in secular, urban parts of California, surrounded by mostly pro-choice peers, and is passionate about fostering friendships across ideological lines. As a mother to four living children and two lost to miscarriage, Monica speaks openly and compassionately about pregnancy, reproductive grief, and the realities of parenting. Monica’s background has prepared her to communicate complicated ideas to diverse audiences. She’s also very extroverted and loves speaking in front of people.
Help Us Get the Word Out
One of the ways that we share our message is by getting in front of diverse audiences across the country. It’s supporters like you who are often responsible for helping us make the connections to do just that. Here are some specific ways you can help: 1. Consider inviting one of our speakers to your group, conference, or community event. 2. Share this information with local leaders or event organizers in your network, and tell them that you want to see our perspective represented at their next event. 3. Donate to help Secular Pro-Life cover the costs of sharing the message around the country. Together, we can amplify message in spaces where it’s most needed.
