We Asked, You Answered: If you discuss abortion in LGBTQ spaces, what messages or topics have you found resonate the most?
Secular Pro-Life has a focus on amplifying the voices of non-traditional pro-lifers. For the LGBTQ community, SPL offers a survey to gather their thoughts and experiences as a pro-lifer. We compiled answers for today’s question:
If you discuss abortion in LGBTQ spaces, what messages or topics have you found resonate the most?
The answers show a common theme of protecting the vulnerable from bias and discrimination:
Abigail Scott: “I just listen…I agree with their premises, just not their conclusions. People tend to respect that the most. Then I’ll grand all of those premises, and press on whether the person I’m talking to would use those premises to justify killing in any parallel situation. That draws out that we’re usually actually disagreeing on personhood.”

Anonymous: Selective abortion to end pregnancies of babies that are or might be disabled or the “wrong” sex.

Erica Davidson: “…[T]the feeling of not being in control of life comes up a lot…[I]t’s hard to come to terms with the fact that not everything is always going to be in your grasp to change. Especially when it comes to human life.”

E.B.: That women deserve better.

Daniella Isobella: “If there is one thing [we] can – and sometimes do – agree upon is the eugenic-like nature of killing a human prenate due to the[m] being intersex.”

Anonymous: “…[T]hat it is important to recognize respect of life.”
