Many pro-choice views depend on believing embryos are “clumps of cells”
From time to time we ask our followers “If you used to be pro-choice and you’re now pro-life, tell us why.” We’ve posted some of the answers to that question (and similar questions) here.
Among the recurring themes are people who sincerely believed most abortions take place when the embryo is just a “clump of cells.” When they learned more (sometimes through formal education in biology, more often through their direct experiences with pregnancy and/or miscarriage), they were surprised to realize the “clump of cells” narrative is, at best, incredibly misleading. Here is a collection of such examples.
These stories highlight the importance of making sure we are familiar with basic biological facts, including fetal development, when we discuss abortion in our social circles.
