Ask a Pro-Life Atheist: C.K.
Once a month or so, the Secular Pro-Life blog features a short interview with a pro-life atheist or agnostic. (See the full series of interviews here.) Although Secular Pro-Life is not exclusively for atheists and agnostics, historically, they have played a key role in the organization. As they become more prominent in the pro-life movement generally, we’re excited for the opportunity to share their stories. This month, we welcome pro-life atheist: K.C.
How did you arrive at the anti-abortion position?
I used to work Labor and Delivery, and sometimes worked with extremely premature babies. I always saw them as human beings that deserved protection and didn’t understand why people think its okay to abort them just because they’re inside the uterus, but are willing to move heaven and earth to save them if they happen to be outside the uterus.
How did you arrive at the atheist position?
When I learned that the modern concept of hell came from a painting by Botticelli. That made me start to question whether everything else my mother and the various churches we went to were speaking truth or something made up by humans.
How do you contribute to the cause of saving lives in the womb?
I have donated to anti-abortion causes.
