Protest Merrick Garland’s Discrimination Against Pro-Lifers
Attorney General Merrick Garland (pictured) leads the Department of Justice. Under his direction, the department has caused great injustice to pro-life Americans. Protests will take place today in Washington, D.C. and tomorrow in Philadelphia, PA.

The federal “Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act,” commonly known as the FACE Act, criminalizes many peaceful acts of civil disobedience at abortion facilities. It is broadly written to protect any facility offering “reproductive health services,” including pro-life pregnancy resource centers. Places of worship are supposed to receive FACE Act protection as well.
But under Garland, the DOJ aggressively enforces the FACE Act against pro-life advocates, while allowing pro-abortion terrorists to attack pregnancy resource centers with impunity. Multiple pro-life rescuers who peacefully distribute roses in abortion center waiting rooms have served jail time. Meanwhile, the pro-choice arsonists at Jane’s Revenge haven’t even been arrested!
Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising (PAAU), which is organizing the protests, released this statement:
Enacted in 1994, F.A.C.E. is a draconian federal law based on the outdated and egregiously wrong ruling in Roe vs. Wade. Its primary purpose was to crush the efforts of Operation Rescue, an organization responsible for more than 75,000 arrests, more than any other social justice movement in our nation’s history, an effort which gave rise to our nation’s first pro-life political party. Operation Rescue was unable to weather the crushing weight of this federal law and the Rescue movement faded away with it. In recent years there has been a renewed interest in Rescue and of nonviolent direct action outside killing centers across America. And the response from Garland’s DOJ has been swift. While the F.A.C.E. Act is used to target, harass, and intimidate pro-life activists, it was also intended to protect churches and pro-life pregnancy centers, however, there has not been a single indictment brought on behalf of these institutions. And as activists we know full well that pro-abortion advocates have violated F.A.C.E. when disrupting churches and actually fire-bombing pregnancy centers post Roe. This discrimination must end. The time to stand up to Garland is now. We are going directly to the DOJ headquarters in Washington D.C. and in Philadelphia PA armed with the most effective nonviolent tools we have, the power of protest, and the power of the media to force change. If we fail to speak up now, we are letting a tyrant win. I know we are all doing important work in our movement and for that I’m truly grateful. But there comes a time when every person who is capable must use our bodies to show visible nonviolent resistance to an oppressive regime. That time has come. Will you please join us for a press conference and protest as we pressure Merrick Garland to step away from his extremism and to stop deploying armed agents to nonviolent activists homes? Will you help us ensure that the F.A.C.E. Act is either applied consistently or dismantled altogether? |
