Upcoming events in California and Pennsylvania

In the coming weeks, you can hear Secular Pro-Life presentations on both coasts!

On Wednesday, February 19 at 6:00 p.m., Monica Snyder will speak at Stanford University. This event will be free and open to the public. The room is to be determined; check secularprolife.org for updates.

And on Saturday, March 29, Secular Pro-Life is excited to co-sponsor the Life/Peace/Justice conference at Villanova University in Philadelphia, PA. SPL president Kelsey Hazzard will be part of an afternoon panel.

The conference is organized by our good friends at the Life Matters Journal. It will cover a wide range of life issues, including abortion, capital punishment, suicide prevention, stem cell research, euthanasia, human trafficking, and war. The speaker lineup features some fascinating perspectives, including a death row exoneree. This is a great opportunity to introduce your pro-choice friends to the holistically pro-life movement and find common ground.

Registration is required and costs between $20 and $35.

Quick observation – the term 'right to life' is less appropriate to some CLE views than 'pro-life.' The existence of a 'right to' X is consistent with both the idea that by choosing to violate the rights of others you relinquish the right to X (eg, freedom of movement & imprisonment) and with the idea that you have a right to to give voluntarily give up X (eg, renunciation of citizenship). 'Pro-life' is a better fit for a view that that's based on the sanctity of life (or which maintains that there's an incomparable inherent value to human life).

It’s crucial that we demonstrate that anyone can–and everyone should–oppose abortion. Thanks to you, we are working to change minds, transform our culture, and protect our prenatal children. Every donation supports our ability to provide nonsectarian, nonpartisan arguments against abortion. Read more details here. Please donate today.
